ENGLISH E-CONTENT FOR CLASS 5

An Innovative Initiative of Language (English) Teaching and Learning

With a goal to improve the quality of English teaching practices and student learning through an ICT infused education system, Sponsorship Programme took an initiative of developing audio-visual materials and recently developed class four and class five contents, based on the English, National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) curriculum. The 2010 National Education Policy of Bangladesh strongly suggests the availability and use of audio visual materials for teaching English classes. The development of English contents put Save the Children in the leading position, as the developed contents are on the new curriculum of 2013.  The materials will be used in the classrooms that have computers and projectors. The government has already provided 1503 primary schools with multimedia facilities, and aim at creating more multimedia classrooms across country in near future. The government has appreciated the work of the small team of Save the Children and uploaded the materials in the national website (www.dpe.gov.bd) for downloading the contents to all the primary schools in the country.
The animated flash based multimedia enriched interactive lessons along with the special teacher training made the English classes pedagogically compatible with more communications, practice, activities and assessment.
To have a look of the contents, download the lessons in your computer from the following list.
The original software has ‘dual screen options (two different screens will be running simultaneously in the classroom, one for the teacher and the other for the students)’, but here only one part is given for the easy download.
Instructions:  Click on the following lesson list to download a lesson in your computer. Double-click on the downloaded folder. Then click on ‘run’ and select the location to save. Then click on ‘extract’. A new folder with the same name as lesson name (e.g. Lesson 1 Say Who You Are) will create. Open the folder and click on FLASH ICON file to run the lesson.
Click on ‘Overview of e-Content and Instructions for Teachers’ to learn more about the material.
